3D RIDE-FILM FOR CONTINENTAL TEVES COMPLETED

Bellevue, WA USA- September, 2003: Lightspeed Design Group today announced the completion of a stereoscopic 3D motion simulator ride-film for automotive supplier, Continental Teves.

The 3D film was written, produced, and visually realized by Lightspeed, and will educate the public about Continental's innovative safety technology, Electronic Stability Control (ESC).

Eye-popping 3D movies have caught the public's attention again, with viewers rushing to see everything from Hollywood's "Spy Kids 3-D" to James Cameron's IMAX documentary "Ghosts of the Abyss."

Marketing companies are also catching on to the sizzle created by high-quality 3D films, as proven by the success of Continental's "Safely There" mobile exhibit and marketing campaign. A 3D high-definition film by Lightspeed Design Group is now crisscrossing the country in an 85-foot mobile exhibit.

"Today's consumer audience is rightfully cynical and demanding. Disney and others have created a legitimate expectation of excellence in info/entertainment messaging. Continental's ESC exhibit will typically be only one of many competing attractions for the consumer in each of it's national tour markets," said Mike Adams, account executive for H.B. Stubbs Company in Warren, Michigan, charged with building out the tractor trailer exhibit. "We enthusiastically supported our client's preference for 3D with motion as a way to bring their messages effectively to a larger audience. It generates a buzz all unto itself."

The realism of the film is heightened by Lightspeed's proprietary 3D technology, which immerses viewers in an eye-opening 3D world that seems lifelike and natural. "We've been refining 3D technology for ten years, working on everything from precision computer graphics to live action shots," said Lightspeed President Chris Ward.

To reach Continental's targeted demographic--women in their 30's and 40's--Lightspeed eschewed the in-your-face effects common to most 3D productions. Instead, the rich, captivating 3D look of the film was combined with a content-driven story about two mothers having a "kitchen table" talk in the front seat of a car.

"The film's message", said Lori Pavelich, Contintental's Supervisor, Marketing Communication, "is very subtle, in that we are not trying to scare the audience out of their seats, but we do want to make people realize how valuable ESC can be. That's why I think the 3D works so well with the film's story line--it brings a realism to the message that makes it more credible and believable."

The film was created with the most current 3D High Definition technology, which utilized Sony CineAlta digital cameras, controlled by Lightspeed's innovative 3D computer pre-visualization techniques. More than 25 people participated in the project.

In addition, Lightspeed's DepthQ Stereoscopic Media Server and inexpensive digital video projectors were used to play back the film at HDTV resolution. DepthQ is a specialized professional-quality digital server technology for the display of stereoscopic 3D film and video media. The system is easy enough for the trailer staff to operate yet rugged enough to withstand a six-month touring schedule.

Although the 3D technology involved in the Continental film generates lots of sizzle at the entrance gate, Lightspeed's 3D filmmaking and projection techniques are cost-competitive with 2D film projects, making the technology accessible to a wide range of corporate productions.

No matter how intense the buzz over special effects can become, however, Ward's philosophy is that the story must come first, the technology second. "We balance the media with the creativity of the story, and everybody comes out ahead."

LIGHTSPEED HELPS NINTENDO AT E3 - 2001

Bellevue, WA: Lightspeed Design Group again works with the Nintendo of America, this time at the game industry's largest trade show: E3. With over 62,000 in attendance, E3 is the pinnacle of interactive game and electronics trade shows. Nintendo has always had a strong presence and this year was certainly no exception.

Lightspeed was enlisted to provide key product animations highlighting recent technological advances in Nintendo's most important new products in years: GameCube and GameBoy Advance. Lightspeed's computer graphics work was also used for off-site sales presentations.

"I wanted to thank you for the fantastic job that Lightspeed did at E3. The computer graphics and laser overlay highlighted our products and got our message to the show attendees in a wonderful and entertaining way. With your help, it was Nintendo's best trade show ever."

LIGHTSPEED WINS TOP HONORS

Portland, OR - May, 2000: Lightspeed Design Group today joined the ranks of industry leaders Pixar, NHK, Proctor & Gamble, and CBS Sports, winning a prestigious first place award at the International Electronic Cinema Festival.

The festival is an internationally recognized forum for honoring outstanding achievements in digital television and digital cinema. Lightspeed's high definition video production, "Threatened Ocean, " was awarded the first place medal in the Short Programs category. The work was developed as part of Lightspeed's ongoing effort to create visually exciting programming for family audiences around the world.

"We focused on creating visual imagery that would tell a powerful story."

First shown at the EXPO 98 world's fair in Lisbon, "Threatened Ocean " is a moving story depicting the impact of environmental destruction on the world's oceans. It uses high definition imagery of a beautiful and innocent baby juxtaposed with standard definition television images of environmental threats. Viewed by 2.5 million people at the Lisbon fair, the program relies entirely on imagery to communicate its message.

"We focused on telling a compelling story, and used high definition technology to emphasize our themes, " said Lightspeed President Chris Ward. "We decided not to use any dialogue in this piece because the audience came from all over the world. Instead, we focused on creating visual imagery that would tell a powerful story. I'm glad the judges thought we succeeded. "

The festival, sponsored by Sony and Panasonic, used an international judging panel to honor one company in each of seven categories. The categories included Short Programs, Drama, Entertainment, Documentary, Sports, Education and Commercial Advertisements. Other companies honored at the Portland, Oregon festival included the Leo Burnett Company, NHK Japan Broadcasting Company, TV-Ashai, Omni Video Production, CBS Sports, and Pixar.

"Our goal is to use the best visual technology available from high-definition cinema to laser-generated graphics to support a story-oriented production."

Lightspeed Art Director Bob Mueller wrote the script for "Threatened Ocean," which was directed by Karen Stanton. The custom soundtrack was by writer and musician James Reynolds. The piece incorporated computer-generated animation sequences created by Lightspeed and was shot entirely on location in Seattle by Mark Pingry of KCTS, Seattle's public broadcasting television affiliate.

"Threatened Ocean" is one of seven full-length feature programs developed by Lightspeed that are being viewed at nine high-tech multimedia theaters in science museums throughout North America. The company's 3D Multimedia Theaters combine story-driven action with topical education programming for family audiences. The audience gate at some theaters has been as high as 60,000 per month.

"Our theater installations show that there is a tremendous demand for this type of programming."

The company has also created high-tech visual presentations for such companies as Procter & Gamble, Nintendo of America and Ford Motor Co. "Our goal is to use the best visual technology available from high-definition cinema to laser-generated graphics to support a story-oriented production," said President Chris Ward. "Our theater installations show that there is a tremendous demand for this type of programming."

LIGHTSPEED CREATES STEREO 3D PRESENTATION FOR PROCTER & GAMBLE

Jersey City, NJ: Lightspeed Design Group is very pleased to announce the successful completion of a Stereo 3D presentation for Procter & Gamble’s new hair care product line Physique.

Following a visit to Lightspeed's 3D multimedia theater presentation at Liberty Science Center, marketing executives of Procter & Gamble decided it was exactly the approach they needed to introduce the science behind a new line of personal products being presented to buyers at an upcoming corporate event.

After getting a clear understanding of the chemistry directly from Procter & Gamble scientists, the challenge became creating a seamless blend of video, 3D slide projections, and soundtrack as support for their live presenter. Lightspeed's use of 3D to portray molecular models clarified complex ideas, transforming science into breathtaking art.
